Hello!
We travel a lot – for work and for pleasure – and Hotels We Love is a blog devoted to some of our favourite places in the world – cool hotels and travel for creative types. Plus other stuff we like – art, architecture, bikes, graffiti art, detective fiction, interesting snacks… and random juicy bits.
In 25 words or less, hotels we love are personal, creative and inspiring, with that special quality the Dane’s describe as hygge. Hygge loosely translates as ‘cosy’, but it’s more than that, it suggests a sense of well-being, a moment in time when people and space fall into place and create a warm, special kind of ambiance. A kind of bonhomie applied to space.
When we’re not travelling we’re writing, taking photos, making TV, video and a bit of art… Between us we’ve worked for the likes of Lonely Planet, Wallpaper* Magazine, Vogue Living, Babelgum, COLORS Magazine, Vice, Current TV, Discovery, National Geographic, , GOOD Inc, Arts Victoria etc…and along the way we’ve made friends, supported or collaborated with many artists, filmmakers, pranksters, activists and other creative types.
Because we travel a lot we’re really bored of spending hours trawling through hotel websites trying to find hotels that we actually like. Our idea is, we don’t need 100s of hotels to choose from, just a few interesting ones, the old ‘less is more’. So we thought we’d create a small site of our own sharing which was based around our personal recommendations and personal interests. Admittedly, this doesn’t solve our problem, but we hope it will inspire you.
